WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER WHEN BUYING GEAR.
As most expert outdoorsman will tell you, when you are in the backcountry, great gear is a must. This is very true, however most fail to consider one thing, what happens when gear breaks?
When looking to purchase good quality gear, one should also consider the reviews from the companies repairs and warranty services. For example, Vortex Optics is a great optics company. Sure there are better companies out there, but in my personal experience, their warranty service is next to none.
I had a Vortex 20-60 Viper spotting scope that I had broken the eye piece on it. I called Vortex and was met by a wonderful gentleman that knew my anguish. Hunting season was approaching fast and I just lost my spotting scope. In addition, my binoculars had become less clear than I thought they should be but I could not remember if I had dropped them or done something to effect the binoculars. Vortex told me, "Our gear is meant to be abused, it doesn't matter what happened to them. Send them in and we will take a look to give you peace of mind".
In a matter of three weeks, I received my returned Items. Not only did they fix my spotting scope at no charge to mail in or return my products, but they also sent me a brand new pair of binoculars as mine could not be repaired.
This is the kind of service you should look for in a company when considering what companies and gear to go with. When it comes to relying on great gear, you must also be able to rely on the company getting you back into the field when things go wrong. This is why I choose Vortex Optics to back me in the field.
